After seeing X-men: Apocalypse I was kind of hoping they'd bring the more fringe members of the X-men into the MCU to tie the 2 scenes together. After re-watching IM2 I'm saddened that if that were to happen, we wouldn't get more of Munn as Psylocke.
Her role here as some reporter kind of removes her from the Psylocke background, and you could hardly expect Psylocke to meet up with the Avengers at some point and ignore the fact that the same actor had already appeared in a former MCU movie. It's a shame, the character was wasted in Apocalypse, and thanks to IM2, most likely Munn won't be repeating the role in anything MCU-related. I liked what little we got to see of her as Psylocke. :(

Sorry, but this was never going to be a possibility - not even a remote one. Marvel Studios cannot use the X-Men, nor can they refer to the X-Men, nor can they refer to mutants, in the MCU films. They don't own the film rights to those characters. Fox does. X-Men and the MCU are two separate universes done by different companies.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are an exception to the film rights issue. Per Feige, they were part of a very SMALL handful of characters whose film rights (due to how the deal between the companies worked out) ended up in a 'gray area' allowing both companies to use them. However that doesn't make the two universes connected. The X-Men version of Quicksilver is NOT the same character as the MCU's version. Different backstories, different timelines, etc... . Each company has restrictions when it comes to these very few 'gray area' characters. For QS and SW (for example) Marvel can't have them be mutants, can't refer to any of their X-Men ties, can't refer to Magneto at all... they can use any of their history with the Avengers from the comics if they so choose. Fox can do everything Marvel can't, but they can't refer to any of their history with the Avengers. So, again, even these few gray area characters aren't going to join the universes together. They're still separate.

Even *IF* Marvel could use Psychlocke (which, again, they CAN'T), but just hypothetically speaking here: Just because she was a bit character in IM2 wouldn't mean she couldn't also play another role in the MCU. Marvel has no problem with using the same actor in multiple roles (Actor who played one of the NYC cops in Avengers was also cast as one of the main agents in the SSR in the Agent Carter series. The actress who played an autograph seeking Captain America Fan in Captain America: The First Avenger also played Peter Quill's mother in Guardians of the Galaxy, Alfre Woodard played a grieving mother in Captain America: Civil War and then was also Black Mariah in the Luke Cage series).

At least she looked amazing in Apocalypse. Right? ;) Underutilized but I enjoyed her role.

I don’t see her reprising her role from Iron Man in the near future. Psylocke herself, though, is very likely to appear in an MCU film now that the X-Men have returned home. 😏 And Marvel would have no issue putting Munn in two roles, so she can surely play the reporter again while also being an X-Men.
