At least this movie looks like it was made this decade!

Perhaps it's only a Sci Fi Channel thing, and this movie was on ABC, but I've seen other made for TV sci fi flicks made in the past few years that look much older- not period films, but filming style, set design, and horribly outdated electronic gear being used for modern or futuristic scenes giving the whole thing a mid-80s looks.

As cheesy as this movie is, at least it looks like it was made within the recent past :)

I agree. They did a pretty good job considering the film budget probably wasn't high.

Budget of $14 million-ALIEN cost $10 million to make back in 1979....

Yes, and if you account inflation, Alien budget was much higher and it had worse special effects (which eats most of the budget fr these types of movies).
