I can't even count the number of times I've been stuck in a strange hotel room and have wound up sitting on the bed in my underwear. Even though that behavior seems pretty weird elsewhere, it's totally typical hotel behavior. It's one of the bits of being "realistic" I enjoyed. share

share^. And I think it was meant to highlight how pathetic their night turned out. Earlier in the movie Simon was suggesting that they go out and visit nightclubs, etc. Instead, they ended up watching nature documentaries while eating dinner in their underpants.
