The actual father of the kid may be...

Doktor Bernhardt!

It's shocking but he was an evil genius.

While Rachel was feeding the doctor (at 00:57:38), he said exactly these lines:

"One of the greatest regrets of my life is that we were unable to have children. My wife would have been a wonderful mother. You should try lemons, for the morning sickness. They say it helps."

Morning sickness is usually suffered by pregnant moms so the doctor gives a hint she is pregnant.
He is talking so sure like he somehow put his own sperm in her vagina !

Also the talk between Stephan and Rachel on the beach (at 01:18:36) is ambiguous:

Stephan says "If I could go back, Rachel, I would change it all. But there's one thing I would never change."
Stephan looks at Rachel's daughter playing on the beach
Rachel says "She isn't going to find out."

Sounds like they are talking more about the truth about her actual father rather than the truth about the mission.

I doubt very seriously he would artificially inseminate a Jewish woman to have HIS baby.

He surmised she was pg because of the throwing up. His surprise that it was not David was very real.

reply

Yeah, after I posted the message, I remembered the scene of her throwing up and the doctor noticing it. However his talk was still sneaky like he had some plan at least before he was captured. He would not want a baby from a jewish woman but he didn't actually know, remember that she acted like she was from Brazil in the clinic. It was also strange him saying "he always wanted a baby". He was a sick bastard so it may be possible he would have a baby from a patient, lol.

How about Rachel saying "She isn't going to find out.". Stephan persuades her to go to Ukraine with this "daughter" talk.
If it was all about hiding the secret about the mission from her daughter, then why would she write the truth about the mission on a paper and leave it in the old man's room for the upcoming interviewer to read after all the trouble going to Ukraine. Seems like she cared about the secret about her daughter rather than the secret about the mission.

Maybe I am reading too much into it or maybe this ambiguation was the writer's intention.

I'm not a doctor but no way in hell would somebody get pregnant by getting injected in the toosh.

Argentina, not Brazil.

Your "doubts" are based on a lack of sufficient, accurate information. During their reign of terror, throughout WWII, the Nazis made a regular practice of taking Aryan looking Jewish children away from their parents. You can research this for yourself. This is not secret knowledge. These Aryan-looking children were given to non-Jewish German families and were raised as Aryans. And there's no indication that Nazis were loathe to inseminate Jewish women. S.S. officers frequently raped them. Their doctors wouldn't hesitate to artificially inseminate some of them too. Nazis believe that certain physical characteristic indicate racial superiority or inferiority. Hair and skin color. Fineness or coarseness of facial features. Ear size. Other things. They're in favor of increasing the number of their kind, by any means available.

Rachel's intent was to silence the truth once and for all, but she ultimately came to the conclusion that being honest was the best way to honor David and the country that she served and felt indebted to.

He hit and kicked her hard before running away, he knew she was pg and hit her.

What's your point ?

reply

She actually told the good doctor she was from Argentina, and due to his disdain of Jewish people it's past improbable that he would impregnate her imho.

Please. The Doc gladly kicked her and killed thousands. Not his child. He was trying to break her, because he tried to get away and she was vulnerable because she was pregnant. His shock was genuine that David was not the father. He tried to break all of them because he saw that it was a complicated triangle of emotions. It was his gate to escape.

I will admit it's a possibility, but it's far more likely Stephan was the father.

Think about the events that lead up to her pregnancy:
1. She goes to Vogel and get's an injection, likely a hormone to stimulate her ovaries.
2. She has sex with Stephan.
3. She goes back to Vogel and he says, "did you have intercourse last night?" She says yes, and he says "good timing." He was doing an exam while saying this, telling us that he knew she had unprotected sex while she was ovulating.
4. Vogel observes her vomitting, telling him she's experiencing morning sickness.

He was an OBGYN (a successful one by the look of the baby photo wall), of course he's going to recognize the signs of early pregnancy.

Her being impregnated by Stephan shortly after receiving a fertility treatment is just a more simple explanation than him planting sperm inside her during the exam. It's an interesting idea though.

I believe that the notion of Vogel trying to make Rachel pregnant it utterly ridiculous.

You are only a jewish when you're born by at jewish mother. That Vogel would want a jewish child is unthinkable.
