It was boring and seemed pretentious to you, which is fair enough, but for me it was excellent, engaging, and emotionally thrilling. In tears for the last scene, of course. You'll note I make no kind of denigrating comments about action films, etc., because I like some of those, and detest the seemingly inevitable riposte to posts like yours, about what kind of movies you probably like, and how you should go watch one of your Stephen Seagal flicks, or whatever. I guess you'll just have to believe me and others, and open your mind to the fact that some people find this movie gripping, or enjoyable on various levels. It doesn't make your opinion less valid. It's just a fact of life: people have various tastes, and not all of them always overlap with other folks', including yours. That's all.
Multiplex: 100+ shows a day, NONE worth watching. John Sayles' latest: NO distribution. SAD.
