This show has changed my opinion of NOFX.

I always enjoyed the music, but thought that the band members seemed like jerks. Anyhow, Fat Mike and crew actually seem like nice guys in this. The fact that they (the band) weren't freaking out in Peru and genuinely wanted to give the kids a show, really showed how genuine they are.
I am thoroughly enjoying this little documentary/reality-show. Being that it is produced by the band, themselves, rather than a TV station seems to make it considerably more entertaining.

ditto. the fact they lost money in china and really didnt give a *beep* is just awesome. not too many bands have that attitude. true punk rockers.

I was more into way out there bands like Primus and Violent Femmes.

NOFX seemed a little too "mainstream" to me.

This show has changed my opinion too. I think it's cool that they are going around the world to do shows in obscure countries.

I didn't like, however, Fat Mike's sacrilegious attitude at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. Since his heritage is Jewish, he should have been a little more humble and not proclaimed things like "I don't believe in God". That's kind of rude when you are surrounded by devoutly religious Jews at one of the most holy sites in all of Juddaism...

I'm not sure what alternate reality you are living in when radio bands like Primus and Violent Femmes are more mainstream than a totally independent punk rock band. Props to those other bands for doing their own thing musically, but they are both way more mainstream than NOFX. There is no question.

I agree to a point, mainstream music by definition is what is being played on the radio to the masses. NoFX are not radio friendly the subject matter alone would rule them out. Sex, Anti-Religion, Anti-Government, Drugs, these are the things that these guys are writing about.(lstn. please play this song on the radio.) Both Primus and Violent Femmes have had extensive air-play. at any rate the dvd in question rules, kent is the king! i appreciate Smelly a million times more, and have a strange craving for GREEN!

not really, if they are allowed to show what they believe in public, then he should be too.

Was it genuine though or because of the cameras?

Some of it seemed really contrived, like the first show when Eric's guitar stops working and for some reason he stuffs around on his tuner for 10 minutes when he could have started playing. They really looked liked they were doing some really bad acting when Mike and him were arguing about it on stage as well. I swear that section was to make that concert more interesting.

There is no such thing as "reality" tv because no one will ever behave normally when there are a bunch of cameras pointed at their faces. If they are jerks do you think they would be jerks in front of the cameras for a tv show that all their fans are going to see?

They kind of admit to a certain extent that they were behaving less like jerks by constantly saying "remember we have to be nice" and "did you get the memo, we have to be nice."

I did love this show and enjoyed it thoroughly, but I can't tell just how genuine and "real" some of it really was.

Edit: Sorry I was writing that yesterday in a very cynical manner. I am not saying that they are jerks, just that you never know with these types of shows. My brother hung out with Melvin and mike at a strip club one night and said they were really nice. Show is awesome though.

As for the poster who said that NOFX were too mainstream and he listened to less mainstream stuff like Primus and the Violent Femmes: LOL, WTF????

I thought a lot of it was put on as well. Mike seemed to play up the drama a bit. They are an honest band and I respect them but 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians - NOFX Style' didn't do it for me.

It's changed my opinion of them, also, to a degree. I've seen 'em as many times as possible (live in MT) and it always seemed like Hefe was trying to get some 'tough guy' to meet him at the side of the stage for a beatdown. Now it's either there's always some racist guy in the crowd shouting at Hefe, or he's just doing it for show. I mean, every single time I've seen them this happens - does it happen elsewhere? There's lots of bigots in MT, but I don't think they're paying to go to punk rock shows, really, but what do I know?

They do seem less dickish, but maybe they're just trying to be 'punk' in a non-punk type place when they're here and in Idaho.

The one thing that really put me off was the drug thing. I don't know, it just seems like they're not really *beep* up and they're faking. Just my opinion, but ANY reality show sucks, because it's not reality. I watched this cause I've loved NOFX for 16 years, but that was the only reason.
