Positively surprised

Unlike many others here, I really liked this movie.
The story had some twists which made it more interesting. I liked the darkish scenery and the crawling fog.
First it reminded me a bit of the Army of Darkness movie, but the part where Jonathan has dinner with the men and they transform, really freaked me. I still find the Russian or Eastern Europe stories better than the rest, having grown up with fairy tale books from that area.
And Russian dubbing does not bother me much, I grew up with dubbed movies.

In my book, Viy rates much higher than Helsing.
It is not perfect, but it's done without thinking too much of the monetary success it would/could receive. Unlike Helsing.

What are you hungry for?

Total honesty. That is it.

I just watched this and liked it. 18th century Ukraina made interesting setting and it was visually quite striking.

Yeah, good movie, a mix of sleepy hollow and some mystery movies.
I like that in the end it dosnt have to resolve to anything supernatural to solve the plot, but still has some mysticism elements. Biggest problem is the overdone cgi, while the chapel scenes were ok, the dream sequence was a bit much.

Dunno whats up with the low rating, i mean sure, the production values might be higher, buts its not a 100mln$ production.
