Who is he to call her and her friend whore? He is an adulterer who left his pregnant wife. She should have got in his face and told him off.

True enough. His role might be to show how "Sasha" got started in prostitution (Gregor mentions several times that SHE OWES HIM money), and also as an example of the tragically bad life choices she makes.

There's not much about her character (aside from looks), that evokes sympathy, eh?

God, this is how women think? That if they have an affair with a married man--and they are the cause of that situation, since they say "no" to single guys all the time--it's all his fault? And if they conceal their many other sexual partners, it's his fault for caring about his health and for trying to have a relationship? The guy was an annoying jerk, but she chose him.

OTOH, this female solipsism (run amok) is what makes it possible for slacker bachelors like moi to have endless affairs with HOT married wimminz, LOL. These lying cheating wives can rationalize ANYTHING... kinda scary to think some of them have children. =:O
