FAKE contestants!

Just like Smarter Than a 5th Grader, Deal or No Deal, etc., all the "contestants" are commercial actors and actresses. This not only insults are intelligence as viewers because they lie in the beginning about what they do, but it's a scripted show!!! This is why I don't watch these craptacular shows. I think they should be boycotted along with all "reality" shows.

Wow, for someone who "doesn't watch these craptacular shows" you sure burned up your internet connection last night (looks like maybe right after watching?) flying online to the message board of the very show you don't watch to leave a bitter message.

Let me enlighten you on a few things:

First off, most of the TV shows you watch are filmed here in Southern California. Many, many, many people move from other parts of the country to either pursue careers in the entertainment industry or simply because there are more opportunities here than elsewhere. So, when you are watching a game show and someone says they are from Smalltown, Michigan, they probably did move to LA from Smalltown, Michigan. Maybe some of them are struggling actors- but does that mean they shouldn't have the opportunity to win large sums of money? Most struggling actors have other jobs, so when they give their occupation, it's what they do on the side.

The purpose of television is to entertain. People are cast on game shows based on their personality and how the casting director, the producers, and the network think they are going to act on camera in a high pressure, money-at-stake situation. It's a money business like anything and everything else. Ratings equal revenue. Those with bigger personalities will get cast, and they are cast in the greater Los Angeles area, which means that 9 times out of 10, that person has some affiliation with the entertainment industry. Actors on scripted dramas and comedies are cast for similar reasons- bad actors and boring shows that don't entertain get canceled because no one watches them- do you expect something different from a game show?

Are you aware of the rules and regulations set up for game shows? Ever see the movie Quiz Show? Ever audition for a game show, because I have (and by the way, I am NOT an actor). For example, you can't be on a primetime game show on network tv if you have been on national television in the past year and in some cases the past two. So, a successful "commercial actor" most likely won't be on one of the "craptacular" game shows you mentioned. Oh, and the same applies for most "reality shows".

Do you know the strict compliance rules for game shows? They CAN'T be scripted. Of course, the introduction of the contestants can be scripted and the game itself is formulaic, but once it gets going it can't be scripted- that's called CHEATING. The host, players, and celebrities CAN'T have prior knowledge of any of the questions. There is a compliance lawyer on set during taping to watch every move made to ensure there is no mention or hint of anything that could determine the outcome of the game.

Oh, and probably you'll want to run a grammar check before you post comments like "insulting are intelligence".

;)
Happy watching! Betty White was awesome and so was the guy that won the 25K playing with her!!

The show is not scripted. How do you "script" a game show?

Was the guy who was on the first half of the show on Sunday (Jan 4) on the Apprentice? I swear he looks familiar. He said he was a lawyer, which a lot of the Apprentices were. Anyone know?

I know The Apprentice is old. That's why I'm asking the question. Was he on The Apprentice from a few years ago. Simple question.
