Theyve ruined Password!

Okay i just have to rant. I finally got around to watching this and I cant believe what theyve done to the game. I discovered Password/Password Plus on the Game Show network and fell in love with it. They'll never be another Alan Ludden but i thought that since people like Betty White and Rosie were on board that this would be somewhat like one of the previous versions. Theyve turned it into Who Wants To Be A Millionaire which ive come to loathe!!! Regis again...ugh! He's worn out his welcome. The lights are enough to give you seizures. No passing back and forth between teams, no guessing the puzzle at the end, no banter between the celebs. Its no fun at all. I'd rather watch old reruns of Bert Convey's Super Password. Shame on you producers for absolutely ruining a classic game show!

I think we're just gonna have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that.

I agree I like the password puzzle alot better, however I do like this bonus round a little better than Alphabetics.

But has they gone with the Password Puzzle idea, just as many people would be gripping that they did not come up or think of something original. So it comes down to the old adage that you can't please anyone.

As for this new version, I don't think it is entirely bad....it just needs a little tweaking.

Mixed Berry- I TOTALLY agree. Boy I miss Ludden and Convey. And I really think the show was harder in the "old" days.

I am in my early 30's, too, and I hate this show. It completely sucks. I loved the earlier versions hosted by Ludden and Convy. I cannot stand Philbin!

Agree with you all re this show. Somewhat OTT, but I've never understood why some people didn't like Convy, IMO he was the best! Ludden was great but sometimes he was a little cold and off putting, and took himself too seriously. Although I did like those little Password truisms he would do at the end.

I just feel that all of the fun - the puzzle guessing, the celebrity banter - is lost in this version of the game. And for goodness sakes, they are really scrapping the bottom of the barrell in terms of celebrities! Sheesh!! Or, if you are going to resort to D listers, at least get people who know how to play!!!

Yes it's the selection of "celebrities" that sucks and the lack of banter, which I didn't realize until you said it, that made the other shows enjoyable.

The last episode and the one before it were disastrous. The celebrities who were on were complete airheads and didn't even know how to play.

Doesn't anyone remember Password Plus with Tom Kennedy? He had the most likeable personality of all the hosts, IMO.

Fragile - handle with care.

A question to the OP and other whiners:

How does this version of the show change your enjoyment of the original Convey/Ludden version? It doesn't have that much power, unless you let it.

How does it change the content of the old version? It doesn't.

Go enjoy your old game show and feel free to skip this one, but save the crying, please.

Haven't you heard of freedom of speech? Thats what this board is for.

It's been a long, a long time coming... But I know a change is gonna come

This revival isn't very good.

As much as I adore the old Passwords (with Ludden and Convy) and almost all classic game shows, this new version of Password is also a blast. I love it, and wish I could have been a contestant! Yes, it could be better, and they might have tried to incorporate more elements of the slower-paced old series...but all in all, I thought that this was one of the better modern revivals of a game show. Regis did a respectable job as host, which is unsurprising given that the game is a bit of a "Password"/"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" cross...perhaps with a bit of fast-paced Pyramid flavor thrown in. Definitely cool to see Betty White playing again, as well as Neil Patrick Harris and all of the other celebrities they got. Had I been in charge, I'd have tried to get loads more cool people. x-)
