I'd like to see a sequel now that 5 years has passed.
With Obama having 5 years in now and with the "Arab Spring" that was suppose to usher in good has seemed to usher in more bad, Israel and their constant defense of their nation, Syria is on fire, Gaddafi gone in Libya, 2 revolutions in Egypt now. How is the U.S. involved and how it seems Obama is taking more of a back seat to the worlds problems, yet at the same time seems to continue us in the middle east. He came into office wanting to close Gitmo and changing everything, yet 5 years later nothing has really changed at all in the war on terror. Certain countries in Africa are on fire, etc. There is so much happening in the world right now and with the U.S. we can shape and change whatever we want. Should we shaping the world anymore? Or continue to be the world police to stop the killing???
I think this film does a good job of asking decent what if's. What if we just stopped being involved in world affairs and let everyone take care of their own!?!? Would the world burn? If we let the world burn will there finally be conflicts solved? I myself cannot imagine pulling away from South Korea, Israel, or the Balkans. Also I guess I didn't know we had so many bases in Europe itself! I can see having bases in war torn areas, and areas of conflict but so many in Europe itself? Maybe it is time for them to start helping themselves, those countries that are totally capable of handling their own.
Will anyone else step up to the plate and take some of the responsibilities? I like how they show that China wants to be the next superpower to wield power over their area, but really would you want China to be a superpower and assert their ideals and values over your country with the way they are??? And now a days China's economy seems to be teetering on it's edge. The ghost cities, how they cannot keep their economy going some say.
A lot has changed in the last 5 years and I'd like to see them revisit these questions again!!!
Oh and with America's boom in oil production and natural gas, how does that factor in with us needing to involve our self with the Middle East? I know they say that that oil is a world market, but we are the one's providing security for the Middle East oil that China and everyone else benefits from. We should scale back and Asia needs to step up and help the Middle East if they are the next area of the world to benefit from oil.
Also since 2008 gas is now 3.50+ average these days. How that affect us and the world.
