Chimpanzee eat Monkeys?

Wow

reply

I was rather surprised by this as well.

I knew about that for some time. You would think that they would like something like birds or wild pigs.

yeah i read like once a year or something they go on a hunt to get more protein i guess from meat

What on Earth have apes got to do with Monkeys? Please tell me that you are not so thick that you think they are even close to being the same thing.

We are apes. With almost no effort whatsoever, we could arrange test-tube cross breeding with our ape cousins. Monkeys are more like cats and dogs from a standpoint of evolution.

Humans eat cats, dogs and monkeys. Do you want to say "wow" about that fact too?

Chimps eat other chimps as well. They're cannibals.

Ugh and please don't tell me you are one of those jag-offs who jump down people's throats when they insinuate apes and moneys are the same thing. Yes, they are incorrect, but it is really that big of a deal? I mean, is it a big enough deal to be a complete *beep* about it? Why not just correct them without name-calling?

Also, what do you mean not even close to being the same thing? It's all relative. Monkeys and chimpanzees/apes (including humans) are both primates, specifically both simians (higher primates), so they are much closer to being the same thing than say, chimpanzees and dolphins, or chimpanzees and beetles.

With almost no effort whatsoever, we could arrange test-tube cross breeding with our ape cousins.
Lol, no we can't. Humans have one less chromosome than other apes do, and although chromosomal polymorphism is not that uncommon, it is a hurdle that needs to be overcome before any cross-breeding can occur.

I'm not saying it's impossible (and because human experimentation to this extent would be extremely controversial we will probably never actually know), but to say "with almost no effort whatsoever" is absolutely ridiculous. There are plenty of hurdles that would need to be overcome in cross-breeding these two species.

This was discovered by Jane Goodall quite a few decades ago. It's a behaviour that has been witnessed in the chimps that live in the west African forests.

Never test the depth of the water with both feet

Monkeys eat meat also, including squirrels, birds, etc.
Gibbons ,which are apes, also have been documented consuming mammals and birds.
