(spoiler) what about Alice???
Okay I'm confused. This is a true story, so what happened to Alice when the mom took her away? Can't be murder, or there would have been an arrest, court and trial, media and so on.

shareBaby Alice? Well, it can be inferred that she killed the baby. After all, it was a mixed baby. Probably would have had an extremely hard life during that time period. But no one knew about Frankie being pregnant so I doubt anyone would have done anything on it. Especially media and a trial. Besides, the baby was black, if you were mixed with black you were black.
shareI think Edna gave her away to an orphanage and she was the girl they showed in the next scene at the strip club.
shareAt some point Frankie tells Dr. Oz that she saw the baby's arm move as her mother took it away. This suggests that the mother told Frankie that the baby was stillborn though Frankie realized otherwise. Had the mother taken the child to an orphanage there would have been little reason not to tell Frankie. In those days it was pretty much standard for unwed teenage mothers to give up their babies. Also since the mother chose to deliver the baby herself in a motel room suggests her intent was nefarious.
He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator.
As the mother repeatedly said she was only trying to do what she thought was best for Frankie. I think that in her mind, giving the baby away WAS the best option. I don't for one moment think the mother killed that baby.
shareYES! This is exactly what I think they were implying with that. It's not surprising that few picked up on this as it wasn't well constructed. I still loved the movie but I wish they would have been less obscure with it.
shareEverything I read about this movie they say the mother killed the baby. That may explain why the mother was so nice to Frankie and made up excuses for her (feelings of guilt), unlike her other daughter.
