Oh no!

The same writers are making another film. Why didn't producers wait for the reaction to 3 and Out? What is the world coming to?

Sounds like a similar curdle of black comedy and cutesy British cliche i.e. everything "3 and Out" is being panned for. I'd almost trust this concept if it were being handled by the Apatow gang (for example) but British cinema's track record suggests that it will be tasteless, unfunny and utterly detached from the reality of British culture.

The synopsis gives us 3 things:

1) Two teen male friends, one of which is dying.

2) Goal is to get dying friend laid before the inevitable.

3) Friend goes on this quest and has reunion with estranged father.

Personally I'm not seeing any recognisible genre to latch on to here. Point 3 neagtes it from being a very dark "American Pie" highschool romp by mixing the theme of family with the sex goal which just makes me queasy right there. Point 2 sounds like a three minute montage (probably involving prostitute and small town slag cliches). Point 1, though, is so desperately tragic that I can't conceive of it as even being remotely comedy. Twentysomething wanting a last piece of action I can sort of dig but 15 year old virgin?? I wince. It would require a degree of sensitivity that "3 and Out" clearly lacks.

If I felt that this was going to be a truthfully cruel teen comedy with satirical teeth and pathos buried beneath then I'd be salivating over this potential pic. As is I just sigh another "bloody British film industry..."
