A NEW PHILIP RIDLEY FILM!

frankly, i do not even now the actors in this, but as someone who saw THE REFLECING SKIN and THE PASSION OF DARKLY NOON in the 1990s i truly nearly cried when i read that this was being made.
living in germany i never had the chance to see philip ridley's more recent plays on stage, but i kept reading them (plus some of his children's books), always hooked by his imagination, trying not to hope too much for another movie. to make myself short: this is a sensation. i hope this will be a great success and will make people (re)discover ridley's other films. which, by the way, need proper dvd releases very, very badly.

I liked the Reflecting Skin except for the last minute, which I thought was a little cheesy, but overall a great film. I cannot find Darkly Noon so a dvd release would be nice.

If you guys want to fill in the gaps and get an indication of the direction he's taken since making those films, I cannot recommend enough reading his stage plays. I'm very excited to see how his skills as a film director match the surreal East End stories he's been writing elsewhere since.
