Do you have to see Spooks before Spooks Code 9?

I'm an American that enjoys British TV. I have a multiregion DVD player and noticed that the first series comes out on DVD soon. I was thinking about buying it because the idea behind the show seems interesting. I have not seen Spooks. Do I need to see Spooks to understand the spinoff: Spooks Code 9?

No. Aside from the Spooks brand name they are unconnected, storyline wise.

But I recommend you save your money - this series is terrible. Buy season 1 of the original Spooks instead.

Even though I live in the UK, I've never seen Spooks. But I just finished watching Spooks Code 9 and just loved it. I found it very gripping and well made. Maybe it helps if you don't compare it to Spooks itself.

No but I would see both, Spooks has been on five or six seasons and most of the shows are really good some of the best in the spy genre of shows.

I've never seen spooks but loved code 9, from what I've read its only people who don't watch spooks that like code 9

no you dont its a completely different story line and its a good show I've watched all the episodes and found it to be a very well made show and enjoyable to watch.
