...were married? For some reason I never really got that 'til the end. I figured her husband was back on earth.

We were supposed to be shocked that they were married, since we knew she was having a relationship with the captain first. I really want to know what happens to them =(

After she was "killed" you saw her husband comforting her with the camera focused on his wedding ring.
