Did anyone else think that 'future Japan' looked a little quiet?


If you look at films like Blade Runner, Elysium or Total Recall (2012), you get a real sense of claustrophobia from over population, however, I noticed that in GITS there were no traffic jams and not that many people walking around.

It's after a world war. No telling how many billions were killed in that conflict.

Nothing like a good war to take care of overpopulation.

Any time. IIRC, the death toll was over 3 billion, but I haven't watched the original movie in a while.

Those movies were made before the dawn of online shopping. This one is relatively new. I think in the far future most people don't even bother to go out of their houses. They do everything via teh internetz.
