Weta is responsible for all the practical effects in it, just saying. It'll have a lot of practical effects (take a look at the geisha robot in the first teaser)
shareLook, nobody doubted their ability to make a film and anybody can hire Weta if the money is there. The problem is the story, the characters, the ability of the director to create an interesting whole, not the effects.
Also when it comes to the aesthetics i am not impressed.
The footage contains barely anything impressive that can't be done in a couple of days shooting.
The shot with Motoko waking up in her bed? Way to flat, too clean, too obvious CGI, lighting is not even half as interesting as the original shot from the 1995 movie where the composition is taken from.
Omg here we go again. 1st... the footage doesn't contain anything impressive? Right well maybe 30 seconds of clips isn't enough. And within that footage your trying to compare it to an ANIME! How can you judge lighting from the drawings on paper to real life moving pictures on film? Seriously enough with this over analytical BS on a film not even out yet. The shots we seen are actually quite stunning. Simplexity is how I can describe it. Reminds me of Drive and Only God Forgives. Slow moving shots are perfect for this story.

shareWell everyone is entitled to an opinion. I for one enjoyed the footage...except for the one in her room. It felt to CGI and didnt look like Ghost at all. Other posters have commented about it as well. I am looking forward to a full length trailer to get a better grasp on where they are going with it.
