Documentary

Is this one of the better wrestling documentaries?

I may have seen this on Netflix...primarily for it's nostalgic value. I grew up watchin Saturday Night Wrestling on D/FW local KTVT Ch.11 at 10 pm religiously from the early 70's until puberty, a drivers license and girls altered my priorities. Even then, thanks to the invention of VHS, I continued to keep up with the Von Erichs whenever possible. To WCCW's credit, it tried to maintain an air of realism when WWF(E) and WCW catered to fantastical characters and storylines. I'm both glad yet sorry I didn't catch their broadcasts to the very end...I think there were mergers or takeovers going on.

That's pretty cool that you were able to watch those saturday night shows from fort worth. I always wanted to see those because I only got the show from the sportatorium and they kept showing clips from that other program and it looked more exciting and seemed like that's where everything happened.

Oh yeah...saw many a live match at the old North Side Coleseum, then they moved to the Will Rogers Convention Center, both places where they taped on Monday for broadcast on Saturday night. At first, the show was an hour and a half, but eventually expanded to two hours. Of course, they always managed to time the main event to coincide with the end of the broadcast, so if ya really wanted to see what happened ya had to go to the live event!

Yeah that must've been something. I grew up in New York which was wwf country. While I did see many a show at Madison square garden and it was great and all, I always much preferred the wrestling style of territories like world class or mid south, georgia, florida, or any of those. I always wished I could've experienced that stuff first hand. But I guess we can't help where we grow up, and at least I got some of that stuff on tv.
