Was there a target audiencIca for this film?

It's a strange situation. "Legend" boasts solid award nominations and reasonably good critical reviews, but I don't know anyone who's seen it. Or wants to see it.

I'm guessing that Snyder really, really wanted to make this movie. In fact he wanted to produce more than he wanted people to see it. Again just a guess.

It is a good and beautiful film. But I know of no one to whom I'd recommend it.

Snyder does it deliberately, as proven by the film Sucker Punch which was a piss take of the paying audience who went to see it - hence the title. The only people who enjoyed it were those who watched it after release. It's a similar situation to the game Spec Ops: The Line.

I think Legend of the Guardians is a stab at the idea that "contains CGI owls" automatically = kids film, therefby perpetrating a similar ruse that will anger the paying audience. Gotta love it, he really likes shooting himself in the foot.
