What about the Honorary Oscar?

Well, I know that in 2006 Angela Lansbury, Lauren Bacall, Maureen O'Hara and Eli Wallach were among the candidates for Academy Honorary Award, but they lost to legendary composer Ennio Morricone.
Other candidates that year included Tony Curtis, Deanna Durbin, Jerry Lewis, Kim Novak, Max von Sydow and Richard Widmark.
As for this year Honorary Award recipient, unfortunately there will be no one.
Both previous years’ recipients Ennio Morricone (2006) and Robert Boyle (2007) were already announced on December 12.
Congratulations to Jerry Lewis on his well-deserved Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, though it's very sad that The Academy Board of Governors have decided not to give out The Academy's Honorary Award this year. I think it’s disgusting and kind of ''No one deserves it or good enough for it''.
I guess they want to let everyone die before acknowledging their contributions to film.

I'm glad Jerry Lewis got the humanitarian Oscar. As for the honorary I'm disappointed that it wasnt awarded. There are some great personal that could have received it esp. Lauren Becall.

It bugged me that no one got an Honorary Award, Angela Lansbury deserves one.
