The game is superb. More action, more stealth, more hand to hand combat, more gunplay, boss battles, and a great story.

The alpha drones are bosses. Mechs are bosses, especially when you fight Spinner.

Also the room where you have to fight a bunch of drones that drop in just before you encounter the first mech can be considered a boss battle. Riddick is put into a unique situation where he has to fight off a large group of bad guys, this is a definition of a boss battle.

after the third chapter the stealth pretty much goes away until you land back on the planet.
Try playing the game again, you can still use stealth in most situations.

As soon as you get your new gun there is no need to use stealth.
That's not the point, the fact is you can still use stealth and often times it's better too, especially when you are outnumbered.

Riddick was never a purely stealth game anyway, what made BB so good is the clever mix of stealth and action, which they achieved even more so in AoDA.

No need to use stealth and chosing not to use it are not the same thing.
You can still be stealthy...you just chose not to use it.

You made the game less stealthy.

I liked using both the stealth approach and all out assault. In some places it really is better to darken a room and stealth kill or sneak by. It gives a you a choice in how to play it so it doesn't become too repetitive.

Take Splinter Cell for example, you can just kill your way through a lot of the time, but it's usually better not to because it's either more enjoyable or the safest approach.

I agree, I thought butcher bay was much better. The game was groundbreaking at the time, and it was so much more than just a shooter. I only just finished the demo on ps3, but I think I'll hold off on getting this, theres so many more awesome games out, like prototype, infamous or red faction.

Butcher Bay is much better, but I still enjoyed Dark Athena a lot and consider it a worthy follow-up. Butcher Bay was a tough act to follow but I think Starbreeze did pretty well considering Dark Athena wasn't meant to be anything more than a padded out expansion. By design Dark Athena was to replicate and lengthen the Butcher Bay experience. Hopefully profits for this one were good enough for Starbreeze to consider a sequel that really takes the series forward.

Yeah. I find it hard to call this game worse than Butcher Bay when it is just an extension of the first game in every way.

I'm not an actor. I just play one on TV.

I think it's on par with Butcher Bay.

All I know is though, is that Dark Athena has the best voice acting I have ever heard/seen in a video game.

Whwn I played through the game, I felt everything was evenly balanced. When I was on the ship, I used mostly stealth attacks, which were great fun. When I was on the planet, it seemed more convienent to switch to guns. And once I found the S.C.A.R. (extremely sweet weapon, BTW) I found I could use it almost like an insane sniper rifle which changed things up once again. Awesome sequel, IMO.
