They both started out in chat rooms without the intention for it to be "that" kind of conversation but after chatting several times, somehow went that way.

This movie did a really great job of how it feels to be in this situation, being able to open up to someone you've never met which usually leads to having real feelings.

Both times the guys claimed to have fallen in love with me and while I had some feelings, didn't take it that far. Both times I started dated a "real" person and they didn't handle it well. It's a weird thing to be jealous in this situation and when I first had jealous feelings I knew it was going to far.

I really don't really recommend getting involved with someone this way without meeting them.

It's a weird thing to be jealous in this situation and when I first had jealous feelings I knew it was going to far.

It's somewhat inevitable if you consider it. While I don't doubt there's a number of people carrying on something like this without letting any real emotion creep through, I believe the majority are going to end up with a desire to have more than what's being offered.

The scenario plays out in a way that almost makes it seem like one half (or both, in differing views) of the equation is selfish but what else can one really expect?

Largely agree though, if you're in such a situation where you're clearly investing a lot of time and potential emotion toward one individual, it'd be worthwhile to meet. Otherwise it's just setting up a bunch of disastrous outcomes that leaves one person shattered depending on how far you allow it to continue.
