Wednesday the 9th of April, Kitano Takeshi unveiled his latest film, at a press conference at at the Nikkatsu studio in Tokyo, titled Achilles to Kame, translated: Achilles and the Tortoise.

Kitano stars as a talentless-but-dedicated artist, who plugs along with the support of his long-suffering wife and their kids. As such, Kitano continues the thematic exploration of the artist he began with Takeshis' in Achilles to Kame, commenting that even people without talent should live for all they're worth, facing reality, and Kitano continued, that "it's a story about the harshness of the artistic life."

The script, also by Kitano, was inspired by what he described as his own idiotic paintings that had piled up. "I thought, why not use them in a movie?", Kitano explained during the press conference, and went on to criticized the many Japanese pics based on novels, TV dramas and other source materials as lacking originality. "A film should be made from an original script," Kitano pointed out.

The shooting of Achilles to Kame began on February 10th and is scheduled to wrap in mid-April. Release is set for this fall. Kitano is also eyeing a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where he had his greatest triumph, winning a Golden Lion for his cop drama Hana-Bi in 1997.

I'm not a Kitano mania, but I do believe that this A&T movie will gain some acclaim. I've been reading his long interview series in a Japanese mag called 'Sight', on which he said he now reached some wide-open ground after his recent 2 movies, and that he can make movies in a more relaxed and affirmative manner now. In a website 'Cinematoday.jp' he says the same thing and that the latest one is expected to be a commercial hit. Talented ego-driven director is now facing us movie lovers. Sorry for the avant garde blind-believer.

Kitano´s movies never are lineals.
In general there are main story, but it has differents meaning.

The main story is about a kid that love to paint.
His father is a powerfull bussines man, and his life is only paint.
But his father die and he lost his confortable life and begin a very hard way, but he never give up paiting.

But he is not so talent, o maybe nobody understand him.

All his life is a big serching about his identity like painter.

But in the other hand, there are a lot of scennes a bit hylarious about modern art. (black hummour)

And is something like an human art story, and is about stupid man, and is about people that bealived in their talent, and is about love, and about, and about and about.

Obviuosky THIS IS NOT A COMMEDY, or not in the traditional way.

Is not a great great movie, but is very very interesting movie, specially for art students.

And rememember, Kitano IS a painter, them he talk about himself.
