HELP SAVE 'MY OWN WORST ENEMY'

As of now it appears the show will still be on next Monday. if this is indeed the case, if we can get a record amount of viewers to watch, maybe it's still savable!!! We're still shooting episode #9 til the 24th after that filming ends!!

SIGN THE PETITION AND GET EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO WATCH ON THE NOVEMBER 17th (if NBC aires the show)

http://tvseriesfinale.com/articles/my-own-worst-enemy-petition-nbc-to-%20keep-the-christian-slater-tv-show-on-the-air/

PETITION HAS OVER 450 SIGNATURES,
SO FAR....COME SIGN IT AND HELP SAVE THE SHOW!

reply

Wow 450 signatures...what is that .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 percent of a Neilsen rating point? Maybe less?

Give it up...NBC is a business. Shows with low ratings get cancelled. This show was cancelled. Adios.

reply

I signed...can't hurt.

reply

I have really enjoy watching it. I think that Christian Slater does a great job, and the story is done very well. I am looking forward to seeing how they fix Henry & Edward. Please keep the show on. It just needs to catch on.

reply

I agree, I love this show. It is on at a horrible time in Canada though. but I tape it every week. and I got to say, the guy that plays Raymond is doing an incredible job. I only knew him as Jimmy from Yes Dear, but he is really shinning in this show!

Hey max,

You didn't major in math did you?

If you look at the 2006-2007 figures, a Nielson point was 1,145,000 households. Say, each household averages 2 viewers, that is 2,290,000 people. So, 450 is 0.02% of a Nielson rating point. Now there are 5000 signatures, which is 0.21% of a Nielson rating. Where did you get all of those zeroes? Maybe your key stuck.

Very few fans of any tv show will actually go to a web site, let alone a petition web site. Nielson ratings numbers and petition numbers are not comparable. In the same way as only a small percentage of people who watch public television actually give money to support it. Not comparable.

reply

It's insane how low the ratings were. I really don't believe they only had 5 million. I think someone was lying. Look how many people want the show back! No way the ratings were that low. NO WAY

reply

I think this might be the first ever tv petition i have signed. this show is great but unfortunately it hasn't been given much of a chance to develop a fan base. 4 eps and it's axed?! that's nonsense! I just introduced my dad to it today (who sat down and watched all episodes back to back) and within the same day i hear it's canceled. makes me want to cut my cable and go back to movies

reply

I doubt that'll help. It's already been decided. They're airing 5 episodes and then that's it

Send them some nuts or rocks or something...or just give up...TV is a business...low rated shows fail. 1000 (or 10,000) signatures on a dopey internet petition are not going to change a thing. OBAMA!

If that were the case, then Family Guy wouldn't be around now. It got canceled after like 3 seasons, but was brought back by fan demand. The same is true for several shows. If the networks have a reason to second-guess the ratings for a show they canceled, they will bring it back.

The world is yours & everything in it. It's out there; get on your grind and get it.

The reason Family Guy came back was Cartoon Network picked them up and began re-airing the original episodes. It was only after that coupled with stellar DVD sales that Fox decided to bring back the series to its own network. Works better than a petition. You want to see your show come back? Pray for a DVD release and then buy the snot out of it.

reply

But I thought TBS started re-running it before CN did.. Am I wrong?

The world is yours & everything in it. It's out there; get on your grind and get it.

reply

No, Cartoon Network started airing them first. In fact, TBS did not even start airing them until well after Fox signed on with McFarlane to produce new episodes starting back in season 4.

reply

Petition signed and over 1000 votes. Hopefully someone will give a s#$t.

It's failing because people I know prefer to watch CSI Miami than this. I don't see why they won't experiment with the show on different nights.

reply

CSI stopped being cool about 2 years ago. It's time to move on.

BUMP FOR MOWE.

The world is yours & everything in it. It's out there; get on your grind and get it.

reply

I love CSI:LV & CSI:NY (don't care for Miami unless it's about Dexter) but they're completely different genres although I do get what you're saying. Shows are [normally] resolved in an hour and all the thinking is done by the crime lab. But still, I think they're great shows and I think that CSI:LV has started off particularly strong this year.

But, back to the point. Don't you hate when networks decide that something's too complicated for the public to understand?Maybe if they could do some sort of survey before they just axed something. That would be something.

I really thought this was the one for Christian Slater. He's such a great actor and this role was perfect for him.

<< Don't you hate when networks decide that something's too complicated for the public to understand? >>

I agree with you, prtfvr. I remember when Numb3rs debuted. Many thought it was doomed to fail because the math concepts in the program are far too advanced for the average American to grasp. What I loved about it was that they refused to 'dumb it down' for the average audience member, and instead forged ahead, hoping to pick up viewers who wanted an intelligent, well-written and acted show that didn't hand you the answers on a silver platter but instead challenged you to think for yourself.

MOWE was that type of show. With it gone now, the dumbing down of American network TV only gets worse. Shame on you, NBC!

reply

And that's another thing. Who are they to decide them I'm so dumb I can't enjoy the show?

prtfvr

reply

{Maybe if they could do some sort of survey before they just axed something}

They have entire office buildings devoted to surveys and focus groups and number crunching nimrods asking people all sorts of things. Much of the time problems result from having TOO MUCH of this information available.

TV is huge money and has a "win now" attitude. Little time for development of a "following". I'm thankful now that there are 8 jillion channels so there can be a few niche series that don't demand least common denominator type attention from the unwashed masses. NBC still looks at itself as a bigshot and is quick to pull the plug if it doesn't get bizarro numbers. But inane stuff like "Deal or No Deal" captures our attention for a half second and it gets years of airtime. It's only interesting at seeing how bad the general public is at the idea of numbers and probability. That whole show is just cretinous Howie Mandell saying "guess what number I'm holding?" yet it is on TV every single day.

I'm just happy I live in an age where I can effectively cut out advertising.

reply

Even Howie knows that show is stupid. But hey. A guy's gotta eat.

There are now over 2000 signatures and thats just been a couple days...keep the signatures coming. Also:

I think we should all hit the local Radio Shack, buy some cheap computer chips and do a mail in campaign for the show...

Lipstick Jungle fans sent in lipsticks...and NBC is rethinking the cancellation. Nothing is final, just remember when the Trekies saved Star Trek, twice....WE HAVE A VOICE!

Nobody cares...the show is done. Slater has signed a movie deal and there will be no further production. Done deal. Give it up. Adios. Au Revoir. Sayanora.

reply

How do you know? Are you with the show?

reply

It is cancelled. He has a new job. It is over.

reply

It's tough to follow up "Heroes", even with their ratings so low this season...a new show would be tough to hold an audience after the craziness of "Heroes".

I sure hope "My Own Worst Enemy" survives...but reality sucks sometimes.

:( please save it! i'm probably too late but.. sigh...

reply

Never too late...
Sign the petition and vote on pca both are on the board.

reply

It IS too late. Show is cancelled. Christian has moved on to new job offer. Show is shut down. Case closed. IT IS OVER. Go find a hobby or watch the far superior 24!

reply

Nothing against 24, but it is not superior. And it is definitely not too late....

reply

I wonder if the Trekkies of the 60's would have just given up and done nothing to save Star Trek, if it would have come back after being cancelled to become one of the most successful sci-fi tv shows and movies of all time?

I think not!

The fans wrote in, requested the show come back and based on their huge numbers, the show was brought back. The show went on to air for years and then to the theaters with quite a few films based on the tv show. It then went on to spawn other shows like Generations, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galatica etc...

24 is not superior, it is amusing. It takes years just to show a whole 24 hours in Kiefers life on the show...Wow, now thats progress. At 8:45am, Kiefer picked his nose. At 9:00am, Kiefer took a leak. At 9:30am, Kiefer decided what he was going to wear to work that day. At 9:45am, Kiefer drove to work and killed a bad guy. There, thats one whole season (based on 1 hour in his day).

Okay everybody,

maxtheanonymousmoose says we should move on, so let's do what he/she says. I'm glad he's here to clear that up for us, so that we can all go on with our lives.

It was a good show, and I totally understand many of us wishing it would be saved. According to max, we shouldn't even talk about it.

Thanks Max!

reply

Sorry, 504Jumper but I disagree with maxtheanonymousmoose's opinion of MOWE which is obvious from his earlier posts. And I NEVER give up on anything until I am absolutely sure there is not an iota of hope. Certainly, not on the advice of an anonymous critic. The world is full of critics and people who would rather not try. Perhaps it is all of those years rooting for the Red Sox that make me tenatious. Why give up, it's not like my life is on hold until i know what happens to MOWE. And it's not like I don't enjoy the pursuit. Anyway, enough about me, how do you like my post?

reply

callmerose,

That was sarcasm although not very good sarcasm. I was trying to tell everyone we should just listen to Max because he/she is so smart, and got everything figured out. Max's advise for us to move on, etc etc. is not helpful, but I suppose he/she is really not trying to help. More than anything, it's just annoying because there's an air of superiority about his/her advice.

I think MOWE is a good show too and I'm disappointed it got cancelled. There's always hope, so we can do that, write to the network heads, and sign up on those online petitions, and maybe NBC will find a different slot for it. But, it definitely won't be on at ten o'clock because that's when Jay Leno's Tonight Show will be airing. I just saw at on Entertainment Tonight.

Hopefully, they put all 13 episodes on DVD. I'd buy it if it came out.

P.S. I love your post.
