LOL - I read on this board a while ago that the actors originally cast as Henry's family were mixed race, but then they decided to recast with a Caucasian wife and daughter, but for some reason kept Taylor.
So, as far as the storyline, no Jack was not adopted, just some bad casting (unless he was supposed to be, but the show just never got far enough to explain it.)

I think they kept him on there because of his martial arts skills and what not. They were probably going to shoot something with him fighting side by side with Christian Slater. That woulda been awesome. And I think they kept him there because of Twilight, since it came out - he needed a new project so people would know where he was from... I think :) lmfao
I dont get it. He doesn't have any mixed race in his trivia page. It says he's Dutch, French and German.

shareBoth of Taylor's parents are white 0_o . His mother is French and I see the French. The native goes way back and you wouldn't be able to tell going that far back. His mother didn't know till New Moon!
So yes he goes by a white male. So series is correct.
