I really wanted to like it....

I just couldnt... the film is not bad... is just lame... the acting is the only thing really worth it, specially Farrel and Christopher Lee, they are top notch as usual. Colin Farrel is definetly one of the best actors working today, and he knows how to choose role. This role was great but the film was weak. Besides the two of them, the rest are terribly miscast, specially Paz Vega... i though her performance was extremly forced... and that might be the main reason why i couldnt like this film as much as i wanted...
Its a good story, and it could have been done better i think... i recomend this film to anyone who is a Farrel fan, otherwise you will be very dissapointed

The ending ruined it for me. When he said to David's wife "I wanted to tell you but didn't know how" showed that he was just lying to them about what happened. I would have preferred him to have some sort memory loss from the trauma and that the 'therapy' would have helped him recover. For a while, with the flash backs he was having, I thought he might have made it back to the Kurd Doctor only to have him shoot David with 1 of his mercy killings.

BTW: The goof that he wouldn't have both slides and film strips would be wrong if the guy who developed them made dups for the slides.

I agree with everything you just said, OP.

On the run from Johnny Law...Ain't no trip to Cleveland.

I agree w/the OP. Not that great, although I wanted it to be.

Unless you're a CF fan, no need to see ... and even then, pick another of his films.

I thought the film was a bit tedious to watch. An intereing line-up though with Christopher Lee and Paz Vega playing father and duaghter. Lee did look remarkably full of vim and vigor for a man of his age, and his acting was good, yet he wasn't very convincing as an old Spanish fascist, his mannerisms and accent were more reminsicent of an East European Jew. Still, good to see he is still around.

I wish I was in Dixie, Hooray! Hooray!

A really good movie but not great. I agree Paz was miscast.

Christopher Lee was fantastic but they should have gone with a Spanish actor!!! Elena and her grandfather would not have a heated conversation in English, simply because they are in Ireland. They would be speaking in their native language. That's a major film pet peeve.
