Some parallels to 'Birth'

shareI made that connection too. It's been so long since I've seen Birth but it definitely came to mind while watching this.

Yeah, I saw a review or two compare as well.
This is essentially a full realized version of that concept.
In Birth, it's more about the mystery of it. Is the little kid her lover reincarnated? Of course at the end they go one way.
This basically takes a more 'how could that have happened?' approach.
So they use the similar idea from Birth, a lover reborn, simply as the jumping off point and then deal with all of the issues that would come with that.
Birth never really gets to that because the main focus of the movie is about whether the kid is crazy or if he is actually her husband.
This lays it out, yes, she gave birth to the clone of her lover, and presents all of the problems that would come with that.
This is her lover, the man of her dreams, but at the same time it is also her son, it's an interesting duality.
