Matthew Goode Must Be A Dick!

They mention in the film facts:

"Matthew Goode later went on record saying that he reckoned that the film was one of the year's worst. He admitted that he took the role because it allowed him to fly home back to London on weekends."

This Matthew Goode dude must be a first class dickhead! I thought the film was fine. A nice, lighthearted romantic comedy. Why does he have to come out and trash his own film like that? Did he take the paycheck? What a complete *beep* If he has such "high standards," he should have declined the role.

The movie wasn't much indeed. Since he was closer to it then anyone he probably knows what he's on about. But I loved it. And what made it watchable (beside the wonderfull Irish countyside) was the two leads and their chemistry on screen. So it's ironic that he trashes a film that he himself made watchable.

So you never badmouth your job?

I find it very refreshing when an actor actually tells the truth of how they feel!

Why must they always be selling sunshine and rainbows?

reply

I agree, everyone went off on Katherine Heigl when she started badmouthing Grey's Anatomy, but she was right, it was a sh!tty season, and it's been getting worse.

Who peed in your cornflakes?!

Why is he a dickhead? Because he took a job based on its location? So what?! He didn't say he had "High Standards", and for a jobbing actor it must be brilliant to get a relatively big film and not have to travel halfway across the world.

YOU might have thought it was a "nice, lighthearted romantic comedy", I thought it was an utter pile of steaming *beep* Opinions differ!

I think this line's mostly filler

I love the movie, but I know by all accounts, it is a BAD movie. I like when actors have the balls to admit that it wasn't the best movie out there. He was just telling it like it is. I do feel bad for Amy Adams because I have a feeling she probably had high hopes that audiences would like it. I'm sure she was hoping it'd be a sweet love story that people fell in love with. I tell people all the time when I talk about this movie that I know it's a bad movie, but I can't help it. I just love it. I can see that maybe the director/producers/writers didn't appreciate it. It is THEIR work he insulted. But he was just sharing a common opinion. Can't please everyone.

There's a difference between telling the truth in a sincere manner and being an outright prick. Matthew Goode falls in the latter category. He thought the movie was stupid, fine, but then why the hell did he do it? I'm willing to bet many actors lost out to him for that role, and what he said is insulting to say the least to all the people who actually wanted to do it. What makes it even more irritating is that he's not even that good an actor. He was annoying as hell in this movie, and it's not like he's hot property. If you think you're above a role then just don't take it. Don't do it and then say it was a piece of sh!t. It just makes you look like an arrogant, disrespectful and unappreciative tool.

He admitted in an interview that he only did the film because it allowed him to fly home frequently to his newborn and girlfriend.

reply

That doesn't justify taking on a movie and then dissing it in the least.
