Didn't even know this movie existed..

Was recommended by a friend and now that I've watched I've been reading a lot of Gary Webb's work. Sad that films like these don't get the recognition they deserve.

you must realize why this brilliant film went under the radar - he did a few interviews on infowars. check it.

The truth never wins any awards, it just gets swept under the rug.

Agree, great film.

The Producers and what not got a lot of push back from the US Govt. so did you think you would see it at the Oscars? They quashed it pulled couple of favors etc...

Hopefully it'll find a grass roots audience through multiple showings on HBO

"Hopefully it'll find a grass roots audience through multiple showings on HBO "

One root right here.

I woke up to it on my HBO shortly after it began and was riveted the whole way through. It moved me to looking him up online and I am just frustrated. Frustrated by his death and how you can't shoot yourself in the head 2 times, knowing he will never get the investigation he deserves but at the very least I'm glad HBO picked it up. I hope they run it many times, it's more important than over half of the things they repeatedly run.

They ran Titanic after this movie and it really got me. Of course that's an important story and it's reason for existing is very fascinating and sad but I see this movie with just as much if not more importance. More people have died from it than those that went down in the Titanic. There is a hero in this movie with a love story and struggle as well..just as real life as the Titanic sinking.

Pardon my rambling, I'm just frustrated.

It is a timely story with HRC running for the Democratic nod for President. When BC was the Governor of Arkansas he allowed the CIA's drug laden planes to land in Mena Arkansas airport. What they would do is give the plane a hour to hour & a half before customs officials would inspect the planes.

His participation and playing nice with things like this got him elected.

Its getting the Hollywood treatment as well. Hope they do it justice

The Danny Caslaero/Inslaw/Octopus is another "would be" whistle blower that was silenced by the US Government. Made to look like suicide (it was on Unsolved Mysteries once) but investigation was admittedly piss poor.

It happened in the town I lived in as a teen --Martinsburg WV-small town. It was huge news-incidentally the man who was the mayor of Matinsburg when Danny's investigation was hosed up and down is now Trumps' personal butler. He follows me on Facebook--I guess to intimidate me...or something. Who knows. It Doesn't work.

I agree- somehow this got past my radar.
It's a good story and I'm loving the cast. Too bad it isn't more "mainstream".

I have to agree. It seems that studios push the movies they want to and let all the others to fend for themselves.

Someone recently told me to check out Lymelife (2008) which I had never heard of and I really enjoyed it. I remember wondering how Timothy Hutton didn't get any awards for his performance in the film and I came out of this movie feeling the same way with Jeremy Renner's great acting.

At least everyone posting here was able to find out about it.

I'm pretty sure that if certain people had their way this movie wouldn't exist at all.
