REMAKE!!!!!

Oh this is an obvious copy of the ENGLISH movie which is way better cause the viewers are possibly more intelligent and know other things beyond cricket and match fixing.

And reading other threads, NO this isn't a different story line. Try making something unique. The scene from Jannat where he comes home and sees are in robe and all the clothes are on the floor is a copy from the movie 'Lord of War' where Nicolas Cage is a weapons supplier which was Emraan boss's main job and whne Nicolas came home his WIFE was naked on the bed and was disgusted to wear anything which came from blood money.

Watch

'Lord of War' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399295/
and
'Two for the Money' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417217/

and you'll get Jannat!!

Both these films are million times better than Jannat, only good thing i will say is that the song Zara Se is a very very good song.

Hmm...

Probably, you are right! I have seen Lord of War and both Jannat,Lord of War have the same type of plot...

Similarties:---

Both Nicolas Cage and Emraan Hashmi fall for a beautiful girl and want to win over their hearts...

Both choose wrong ways to make money, Emraan Hasmhmi betting and match fixing, while Nicolas Cage chooses Guns transportation...

Both actors have one male partner with them, Nicolas Cage has his own brother and Emraan Hashmi has his own friend..

In the end, Emraan Hashmi's girlfriend threatens to leave her and in Lord of War, Nicolas Cage's wife leaves her.

In Lord of War, Nicolas Cage's brother tries to stop him and sacrifices his own life. In Jannat Vishal Malhotra too tries to stop him but doesn't sacrifies his own life..

In both movies, we have a police inspector going after Nicolas Cage and Emraan Hashmi exclusively after them...

Can't say for Two for the Money coz I have n't watched it, but probably if you have watched it, then .. may be it borrows soemthing from there.

But STILL, Jannat is not that bad. It's one of the most beautiful movies of 2008! It has a good romantic story and match fixing concept and suits Indian audience, who are in fact, die hard Cricket fans! So this movie worked and was a big hit.

But still I will say, people should respect original work and due credits must be given to sources from where you are taking inspiration!

Thank god that someone else notice to! This is not a remake, this is a rip off! Bollywood is pure crap nowadays

This is quite hilarious!!
Jannat, which is a nice little movie, nothing extraordinary, is not a remake or even a rip-off of Lord of War!! Seriously guys!! XD

Both protagonists choose the wrong way to make money...
Wow... incredible common point, the proof indeed that Jannat MUST have taken this very peculiar idea from Lord of War... XD

I'd like to remind you that Cage's character and Emraan's character are totally diffrent, their psychology are different. Unlike Cage's character, Emraan's character remains quite naive and doesn't believe in violence.

Both protagonists have a male partner...
XD
Again, such a rare element that Jannat MUST have taken it from Lord of War... LOL!!

There's a girl that leaves the guy...
Very specific too ^^
I'll agree however that the scene where the girl refuses the clothes and all may be a rip-off. But it's just a scene.

There's a guy in both films that tries to stop the protagonist, but they don't end the same way...
That's definitely not a sign of copying. It's normal that in this type of story you have someone trying to show the right way to the protagonist.

There's a police inspector trying to catch the bad guy...
Wow!! Again, I'm blow away by this incredible proof that Jannat has copied LOW on this point...

However I'm not saying the makers of Jannat were not inspired by LOW. I think they were.
BUT, it's not a remake. Jannat is completely different from LOW even if some very general plot elements were taken from it (illegal activity - gets away from it for a woman - comes back because of a boss).

Npw let's see what is different:
The tone: LOW is a harsh cold and political movie, Jannat is light and has a STRONG romantic side.
The main character: in LOW he is at the image of the film's tone, in Jannat he isn't really a bad guy.
The theme: arms traffic vs match-fixing.
The ending.

That's quite specific, unlike the common points which are very general and "just" elements of the film structure.
