So why did they frame Nicolas Cage immediately like that?

This movie is an OK "Star Chamber" ripoff, but that part doesn't make sense to me. He did everything they asked, so why did they set him up like that?

You mean why him and not someone else? Luck of the draw perhaps. Also, he had a wife they could threaten implicitly if he didn't do what they wanted, while some people might have no one they valued in their lives. Though the real reason is likely that he was the lead actor.

Really, there are a lot of plot holes and contrivances, but to be fair, it's no more unbelievable than many action thrillers. All the Transporter movies, any Luc Besson film, or any film of that type, and it's more believable than a lot of them.

Does anyone know how the vigilante group knew so early on who the perpetrator was with regards to Will's wife?

reply

I think they knew the rapist by his MO.

In that case why did they not sort him out earlier?

It's that man again!!

I think Will even asks that question of Simon, who never really provides an adequate response. Who needs the cops?🐭

Yeah, what the hell. This made me so angry. Why would they frame him for the murder? If they left him alone he would have went on with his life and they too.
