Not Bad, Not Great

Saw this the other day and thought it was entertaining for the most part. Unfortunately, the opening sequence was probably the best part of the film, quite thrilling and intense. I really enjoyed most of the technical and space scenes, but all the family scenes were kind of a drag because there is little dialogue, just two people starring at each other. I didn't think Gosling's acting was anything spectacular like it was made out to be. He just looked depressed and showed no emotion most of the time. Hopefully Armstrong wasn't that cold and emotionless towards his wife and kids in real life. If he was, his wife had amazing willpower.

For a film that was pretty accurate as far as events that occur, and more importantly intends to be accurate, I thought it was an odd decision to have Armstrong leave his daughter's bracelet on the Moon. When that scene was playing out, I just thought, I don't ever remember reading that Armstrong did this so it wasn't dramatic at all because it felt fabricated. Overall, it was entertaining and worth a watch.
