Stop giving your money to Foreigners

The ones who sell these hair weaves are not black businessmen/women; they are usually Asians who have no ties or interest in the community. They sell these synthetics and shavings for ridiculous amounts, and do not give back anything that they've earned from us, to us.

The majority of these foreigners do not respect you when you walk into their stores. Yet you foolishly give them your money just because you have to look assimilated. It's a shame too, because the black hair care industry is a Mulit-Billion Dollar industry. An industry that we don't even profit from.

Instead learn how to embrace your own beauty. If you want the straight hair look, then all you have to do is blow dry it out and press it.

That goes for clothing, cars, human & pet food, tires, household items,
cleansers. Too late we are consuming far more than vanity items.
Hair goods are the least of our worries.

You're right. The foreign distributors have more clout than they deserve.

I don't care about foreigners, I care about respect and the people who come into the black community to sell products do not respect black patronage.

THIS all day long. I was trying to make a point about this on a black hair thread and to my surprise and shock many black women had this, well "that's okay as long as a I get what I need to get" attitude. It saddened me because perhaps this is why we are where we are today......people leeching off of us yet completely disrespecting us. I'm relaxer-free and though I don't hate Koreans, I refuse to shop in their stores because of the poor customer service and lack of respect. I know some have changed. Many are becoming more friendly and even playing gospel music in their stores however we know how they really feel. I have tons of Asian friends and trust me......they really do think they are superior to blacks. I really hope blacks wake up soon!

I had a Chinese restaurant owner basically tell me that my patronage didn't matter because she had a lot of other customers; she didn't care that I stopped going there. that is the mentality of most of these owners. I refuse to line their pockets. I stopped relaxing my hair and started buying generic brands like Suave. A lot of the so-called "white" products work fine; I just avoid the shampoos and co-wash.

Didn't the film mention that it was black people's own fault for this situation?

So its ok to give your money to white Americans?

You missed her point. It's about customer service! Sometimes I think we as blacks don't fully understand customer service. That's why we spend hours in a salon which we made an appointment for. It's why black salon owners are blaming the black salon demise on Dominicans. No, it's about proper customer service. Black women have realized that sitting in a salon all day is not proper customer service and should never be tolerated. It's why black women have opted for Dominican salons over African American salons.

We are all foreigners. Except Native Americans.
