If season 2 was made without changes, I would have stopped watching ...
OK, so before anyone jumps in and says "Its not happening" or "Its cancelled" - I am well aware of that! This is more to say what personally killed it for me and what would have to have changed in Season 2 for me to keep watching it ... In no particular order!
- Wilton Knight's pilot program (as mentioned by Devon Miles' in the very first episode of KR) consisted of "one man and one car" ... You would have to cut out some of the extra characters that work at the SSC - Obviously, Sarah is supposed to be Bonnie so she would be safe, but Billy and Zoe were so *beep* annoying with all their silly little bets, fighting etc. In fact, the season picked up a LOT from that bank heist episode because there were only 4 people working for FLAG rather than hundreds of them that worked under Knight Research.
- Ford advert, action, Ford advert, talking, Ford advert, driving ... It would need to stop! Do we REALLY need a close up of the badge of every blooming Ford being driven in the programme? NO! There is product placement and then there's that! I did notice in the episode with KARR that the laptops had tiny little Windows logos on them, THAT is product placement! The Ford logos are nothing more than one hour long commercial! In fact, I remember the pilot episode, a car chase between KITT and a Ford Edge, absolutely ridiculous. The episode with the drug dealer, the EMP cuts out their Ford SUV, the DEA agent was also driving a Ford SUV ... It was just way over the top!
- Cut the transformer s**t ... FULLY! The nano skin thing is just stupid, especially considering the pilot (seeing it working) vs the series (Transformers) - KITT changing into different cars (again, giant Ford advert) takes away the fun of the show. How can you have car chases when the car they are chasing could just change colour or whatever to easily avoid them. One car, one colour!
- Cut the Sci-Fi crap ... I mean seriously, the Halloween episode! Billy went to a room and was able to (and lord I wish I was making this up!) RECORD conversations that happened earlier on in the day! What kind of bull s**t is that? The original KR was pretty much realistic, with the exceptions of cars being able to turbo boost and "ski" at the drop of a hat! - Everything else seemed pretty realistic. This one however, you've got an "electric virus" that can replicate itself, voice changing invisible patches ... Let's not forget, the car itself can electrocute you using the steering wheel!
- Get rid of the jokes between Mike and KITT - Hoff and KITT could pull them off because they both had different tones of voices, but in the new one, they are both practically monotone! Jokes don't work with flat voices, FACT!
- Have them go on more believable missions! Like I said earlier, the bank job episode was brilliant, the drug dealer episode was pretty good too but then some of them were stupid! How realistic is it to have a serum that can make you into Superman? Not very!
- Drop the transformer s**t ... I know I said this already but seriously, drop EVERYTHING to do with it. The silly guns that come from behind the headlights, the huge mini gun that comes up out the bonnet ... The whole *beep* LOT!
- Make the underside look like a car rather than having a shiny KR logo!
Many people don't like this purely because they changed so much of it. They complain over wanting the Hoff, William, Mulhare, Patricia etc but lets be honest ... Hoff is a drunken mess, William sounds nothing like he used to, Mulhare sadly passed away, Patricia has retired from acting ... Even if they used the original cast, it still wouldn't be the KR we know and love.
