I hate to say it but the new Knight Rider stole a idea from a TV show!

I hate to say it but the new Knight Rider stole a idea from a TV show made back in 1985 called "Street Hawk". Back during the 80's when Knight Rider hit it off so big I can remember when ABC was trying to compete with NBC and came up with a couple of TV shows that I loved and liked but they never took off though. One was called Automan which was about this computer programmer creates this software and a guy pops out of the computer screen and his little sidekick cursor is what they called him could become any vehicle. It was totally cool! I loved the show but it did not last long.

The other show which I loved to watch and would watch it was called "Street Hawk" That was where this guy is a police officer or reporter who was at one time a professional bike racer. This guy who created the motorcycle recruited the guy to ride the motorcycle. The guy who created the motorcycle would remain at the base like the two women and the one guy to help out young Michael Knight. That is what the guy who created the motorcycle would do is help out with the weapons and something like the Turbo Boost that KITT had. It was a great TV show and USA Network back in the late 80's use to have this show on their networks as reruns.

So that is where the new Knight Rider got their idea from I hate to say it.

I know that that new Knight Rider sucked! I never liked their concept of the new show anyways! I would have rather have had them stick with the old formula instead to be honest with you.

You do realize that the new Knight Rider is based on the 1982 TV series Knight Rider, right? Nearly everything you've pointed out as being "ripped off" from Street Hawk came from the original series.

In the TOS, Michael Knight was recruited by Wilton Knight, who created FLAG and got KITT made. Michael was a police officer who was shot and left for dead. After Wilton Knight died, Devon took over the Knight Foundation and would either remain at the Knight Mansion, at Knight Industries HQ or in the Semi, the mobile base for FLAG, often accompanied by Bonnie Barstow (KITT's mechanic). Bonnie even helped out in the field at times. And KITT used Turbo Boost in the original series quite a lot (in fact, in the first episode, "Knight of the Phoenix", KITT used Turbo Boost to jump over a semi truck while going down the highway in hot pursuit of the bad guys).

The fact of the matter is that Street Hawk borrowed heavily from the original Knight Rider series.

But this one's eating my popcorn!

This and the fact that "Automan" was inspired from the movie "Tron".

Forgive your enemies. It messes with their heads.

That is also true. :)

1985 - Street Hawk: When Jessie Mach is crippled after an assault by an old enemy, his days as a motorcycle cop seems finished. That was before a computer technician named Tuttle recruits him for a special government project. He is to be the test pilot for the Street Hawk, an advanced motorcycle that carried tremendous firepower and capable of speeds of over 300 MPH while in a city with little risk of collisions with Tuttle staying at the command center seeing everything Jessie through the camera in the helmet. This deal includes special surgery to repair his legs while keeping him the facade that he is still handicapped. Unfortunately for Tuttle, Jessie insists to get involved in stopping crime rather than the simple tests Tuttle wants. So now the city has the additional protection of the mysterious superhero known as Streethawk.

"So that is where the new Knight Rider got their idea from I hate to say it."

The problem with Street Hawk was the guy was surgically repaired while the scientist in MANTIS had to keep up the pretense of being wheelchair bound as the guy from Street Hawk had to, before surgery. MANTIS stayed in a wheelchair.

The two leads in Knight Rider had support staff too, so?

1982 - Knight Rider (Original series)
1985 - Street Hawk
1984 - Mantis
2008 - Knight Rider (re-imagining)

All had support personnel, and guess which came out first?

I liked MANTIS but that final episode was a real WTF

Killed by an invisible dinosaur.... Seriously

Might as well cited Viper (1994), too.
