Amazing tour of the history of DC.

I've just discovered this gem of a show on Netflix, I found B:BB to a refreshing take on a character that has been mired in the "real world" take that was innovative 30 years ago, but has become as stale as the campy version was before it.

While light in tone however, this is not without its dark elements. It is a far cry from the pop campiness of the West show, despite the comparisons made otherwise.

More than anything, I love how well it explores the history of the DC universe, with the familiar Batman acting as straight man to some of the more peculiar characters and environments. It is an updated take on silver age DC, with the style and fun of Kirby, Gardner, and Infantino and others, modernized without loosing their charm.

Pretty damned impressive achievement, and a great introduction to a rich comic history, with Bats as your quiptastic tour guide.

I agree with everything you say.

I thought this show was as good as BTAS, but I didn't start watching it until after it was cancelled because I thought I would hate it.

It's a lot more clever show than I thought it would be.

"Clever" is a great word to describe this show, as it was in many ways. I love this show and the comic book. It's fun and refreshing and...clever. I wish they didn't cancel it. It's replacement is awful and rumor is it's been cancelled not even half way through the first season.

I know it would never happen but I would LOVE for them to bring Batman:BB back.

I haven't seen Beware the Batman, but I can't say I'm surprised it's been cancelled (or put on hiatus of whatever). It just looks bizarre.
