America's Game: Missing rings episodes I like to see

1999 Jacksonville Jaguars--They were the AFC Central champions until they lost to divison rival Tennesse in the AFC Championship game.

2005 Seattle Seahawks--They should have won Super Bowl XL, the refs (not the Steelers) beat the Seahawks that night.

1986 or 1987 Cleveland Browns: They had chances to go to the Super Bowl but they blew it against the Denver Broncos on both occassions.

1999 Tennessee Titans--The one inch with Kevin Dyson could've send the SB in overtime for the first time in it's 34-year-old history.

2008 Arizona Cardinals--They were a few seconds away from beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII plus they had a long history of losing seasons prior to that season.

The Seahawks, The Titans, and Cardnials would have been some good episodes.

What's interesting is that 2 of the 4 possible shows the OP mentioned happened in the same season - the year the Titans just missed sending the SB into OT was the same year that Jacksonville went 14-2, both losses coming against the Titans, then losing to them in the playoffs, for a final record of 15-3 (0-3 vs. Tennessee, 15-0 against everybody else they played that year).

Definitely the 86, 87 Browns. A special hour-and-half episode could cover those two seasons. Lotsa stuff about M. Schottenheimer and others. I think that era was when the "dog pound" in Cleveland stadium started to become nationally known, notorious really.

The 1979 Tampa Bay Bucs season could qualify for a Missing Rings episode. The Bucs had come a long way in just a few short years. They really were Cinderella that year. Could include a lot of info on what it's like to start up an NFL franchise.

Also, the 79 season was heartbreaking for LA Rams fans. The team played the almighty Steelers so well into the fourth quarter, many lead changes, then their defense gave up those long pass plays to Swann/Stallworth to let the Steelers go way ahead. Youngblood playing on hurt/broke leg?? The whole 1970's was sort of a let down for the Rams; constant good records but collapses in playoffs to never make the SB (until 1979), came so close to SB appearances but missed it many times. All this could make for a particualrly good Missing Rings episode.

I also think the 86-89 Broncos would make a good Missing Rings episode. Elway and coach Dan Reeves, lotsa controversy between them. Reeves had quite a history as player and coach with Tom Landry's Cowboys, then went to the Broncos and seemed to revive them. Two great wins in Conference Champ. against Browns, and then epic SB losses in three of those four seasons. There could be some analysis as to why Broncos lost so bad in those SB's. Admittedly, the 86 Giants, 87 Redskins and 89 49ers were Monsters of the NFL at that time. But why did Broncos collapse so badly? All this could make for a particualrly good Missing Rings episode.

The 1980 Falcons. I just watched last night a NFL's Greatest Games episode called Duel in Dixie about that playoff game in 1980 against the Cowboys. It said the Falcons went downhill the next year and beyond (until early 90's). That 1980 Falcons team was very good. Guess it's called playoff choking for a reason.

What exactly were some of the things that happened after the 2005 Broncos season with Shanahan? That sounds interesting, because Shanahan just left Washington.
