Far and Away

Having recently watched this movie with my kids for the first time, I could not help but notice the similarities to the Tom Cruise / Nicole Kidman movie Far and Away.

* POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT, WHY ARE YOU HERE? *

1: Both portray the female as an upper crust 'alpha' and the male as a bottom rung 'omega'.

2: The female is promised to an aristocratic suitor that she does not truly love.

3: They are made to partake in a massive journey in which they become more like each other, meeting somewhere in the middle.

4: At the end there is a big stampede in which one of the characters is trampled and presumed dead ( pan up into the sky and dramatically back down ) as the character then almost miraculously comes alive.

Very strong resemblance, I thought.
