Please explain this to me...

I got the impression he was screwing the teacher (Illena Douglas). In his conversation with Tom Arnold he alluded to two "roads" (girls). In the scene at the fountain when he and April almost kissed the the teacher seemed more than a little annoyed by the two of them ("Did I interrupt something?"). And the scene when she tells him April was dead, her weeping and clinging to him seemed as if she was doing so in a bit too familiar a way. I think he was torn between the two and enjoyed the relationship with the teacher for its maturity and intellectual aspect but he was really feeling the pull to April.

But I could be wrong. Just my perception.

The 'girlfriend' is Janel Parrish's character: the girl in the beginning that calls Sean on the phone in a coffee shop. There was more of a storyline in the original script, but most of it got cut because the lack of chemistry between the two actors (also poor acting from what I've been told). He's torn because he loves his girlfriend but he's in love with April and didn't know how to deal with thos feelings. I can tell you this is the truth because I've read the original script because I have friends who were in the movie.

I'm sad they didn't include any of the deleted scenes they wanted to. That may have explained it better.
