just a quick question. Can someone please answer. (SPOILER)

Did Jason kill himself because I looked like he did but no one in the movie actually said so?

reply

Yes. I was confused myself, I didn't know if it was the blood washing off him or killing himself, and I listened to the director commentary, and he said "WOW! Nobody see's that coming, freaks the theater out" or something like that, so yeah, he killed himself.

Uh, yes, he killed himself. He explains it right before to Sean how he feels and why. He closed the door on some kids running behind him, thus trapping them with the shooter and they died. He saved only himself. When he opened the door, he picked up a dead girl and walked out with her and the media mistakenly dubbed him a "hero" and he couldn't take the guilt.

He wouldn't be "washing blood off" because it was days later.

He ran a bath, probably slit his wrists. It's a thing portrayed in films & TV all the time. It relaxes the person, and is less messy (catches all the blood).

His choice seems pretty realistic to me.

That's the silliest reason I've ever heard. "Males do not take baths"??? Um, I know plenty of men who bathe, including my husband. What a strange gender stereotype. A bath is just like a soapy indoor hot tub, you know? Men do it all the time. And for that matter, I know plenty of women who hate baths and only take showers. I'm not one of them since I like both, but...yeah, sorry. I just thought your statement was odd and wanted to chime in.

I'd more likely agree it's a bathtub size issue, not a person size issue. I'm 5'6" and husband is 5'9", and we have an apt size tub, so...maybe your tub is extra small? Or the region you live in makes them small? I don't know. I was only speaking up because your statement sounded like you were making weird gender stereotypes. If that's not the case, then there you go.

Yes, he killed himself. People usually get into a warm bathtub to slit their wrists because the warm water makes the blood come out faster.

But FYI no student from Columbine actually killed themselves. His role was supposed to be a manifestation of survivor's guilt. One of the victim's (Anne Marie Hochhalter, who didn't actually die) parent did though. Months after the tragedy, her mother walked into a pawn shop, asked to see a gun, and while the owner's back was turned with paperwork, she loaded it and shot herself, right there in the shop. I think she, too, is a victim of Columbine, just in a less direct sense.
