Related to the rating in this movie

I don't understand people some times, this movie is worth 8.0 at least. I pressume that mostly was expecting some kind of paranormal activity, a bit of terror, and maybe Matt Damon killing a bunch of ghosts... I don't know. It's the only explanation I can find.

IMDB ratings are garbage. There is so much tampering and fake accounts/shill posting that REAL folks don't bother anymore. Studios and film crews/extras flood ratings with lies, so why bother offering a rating?

You're seeing a reflection of IMDB's utter lack of give a damn about the user base not an accurate user opinion.

Ebert gave it a 100% review. I gave it a 9/10. I may even upgrade it after another viewing. I've only seen the film once so far.

The brilliance of the film lies in it's subtlety I would say. Many people will not even connect to it deeply, they will miss the real spirit of the film. As you alluded to, many people likely go into it looking for Matt Damon to be a hero or something similar.

Many people walk by a flower in full bloom without even noticing it. Human perception can be very, very narrow, and intense too. If perception is not open, it doesn't see much besides exactly what it's looking for through self imposed filters. There are many lab studies out there which show this, the narrowness of human perception. Being open minded and open hearted is one of the most important, but yet neglected things in our entire world.

My body's a cage, it's been used and abused...and I...LIKE IT!!

"Being open minded and open hearted is one of the most important, yet neglected things in our entire world." I love that. I wish more people thought like this.
