She jokes that the title of the book should be called "Tonton". What does that reference? A voodoo boogie man?

Uncle in French

I think it's from Star Wars. What Han Solo put Luke Skywalker into to keep warm.

Tonton is a familiar word for uncle in French. It was the nickname of former French president François Mitterrand ; apparently this was his codename during WW2 and it stayed.
