'Kevin Feige Confirms 'Doctor Strange 2' Is Definitely Happening

During a chat with Cinemablend at the event, Feige was asked about the next steps for the characters of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. The studio head quickly noted that Benedict Cumberbatch and Stephen Strange would definitely be back for more.

"Sometimes it's where do those characters pop up? [Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange [movie], which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he's a very big part of Infinity War," Feige explained. "So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things."

Yes. I would be overwhelmingly pleased if and when it gets made. :) A few years from now? Since we’re seeing Strange yet again in 2019, I’m sure the wait will be worth it. So yeah, what Feige said makes perfect sense.

On that note, I firmly believe Doctor Strange isn’t just one of the most unique Marvel or Superhero films, but it’s also one of the most unique/trippiest fantasy films ever. I expect a sequel to be more eye-popping and thrilling. Anyways, Strange is a wickedly great character who’s made a strong impact in his short time in the MCU so far. Kudos to Cumberbatch who far exceeded expectations in the role.

Good to hear Doctor Strange will be back, I wonder where they will take his story after the events of Infinity war 2 and the aftermath of the Thanos snap.

“Doctor Strange” director Scott Derrickson has signed up for Disney-Marvel’s sequel.

The studio, which had no comment, is about to start searching for a writer. Derrickson co-wrote the 2016 original with C. Robert Cargill and Jon Spaihts.

Great!

"DS" isnt a great movie or any thing, but it was a lot of fun. I'd definitely pay for more of the same.

Scott Derrickson confirmed for the sequel https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/doctor-strange-2-scott-derrickson-returning-direct-1168156

Marvelous. It’s hard to imagine anyone else taking over directing duties for a DS sequel... unless maybe it was a well-known name known for their visual eye. But Derrickson’s vision for the off-the-wall world of Strange was perfect.

That aside, a sequel 5 years later? Well, as previously mentioned Strange will once again be seen in the upcoming Avengers so waiting two more years to see him in his own film again can’t hurt. And yes, Doctor Strange has all the qualities that make it a great film. Apart from its excellent direction and grade A performances, it is one of the most visually arresting and mind-bending comic book films ever, let alone MCU films. Can’t wait for its 4K release.
