Give it a shot...

This movie DOES get going. The start is, for whatever reason, pretty dragged out. I was enjoying the style of the movie and getting to know about the mortician character, so it had enough to keep my interest before the action kicked in later on. When it does, it's pretty brutal.
The story of this movie is not about the fact that he is a mortician at all. In fact, you could IGNORE that fact entirely and this movie would still make sense. So don't go into it expecting gore an a plethora of insight into the kind of people who do that sort of work. That said though I enjoyed the movie. Don't write it off, but don't expect a balls to the wall action flick either.
There's a lot of bashing goin on so I thought i'd show some love.

I'm with you ckneko. I really enjoyed The Mortician. It was a quiet movie full of solid acting performances.

I'm impressed with how far Method Man has come with his acting since Oz and How High. His character and Ava made a nice couple. The end of the movie had me rooting for them and her son to get together and have a happy ending.

Usually child actors get on my nerves but Cruz Santiago did a great job. Even former child actor Edward Furlong did good. Shame Idella Johnson didn't get to talk much, hope to see her in more stuff.

I'm glad I gave it a shot.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
