seagal vs lundgren fight

For some reason everytime I watch a movie either made by or starred by these two actors it reminds me of of the other....
I was thinking who would win in a real no holds barred fighting with no weapons?

I understand they are both martial arts guru in real life and close in age and stature.

reply

How can you ever compare that bag of human fat with the extraordinary Dolph!? If they were to fight, there would be no fight. One hit knockout.

reply

Actually, Segal is an elite Akido master. I know Dolph has the physique, but Segal has been the real deal in his life as far as martial arts go.

reply

Lundgren is a third degree black belt.

seagal has been charged with domestic violence more than once so it seems the only one he can beat up is his wife.

Oh wow, my favorite game: my actor can beat up your actor.

reply

Yeah that certainly seems to be the case, in all honesty Seagal has gotten lazy period, he doesn't keep himself in shape obviously and he doesn't even try to give a good performance in the recent films he's done, Dolph Lundgren on the other hand looks great for man his age and despite of what you may think of his recent work, Dolph certainly makes an effort with his acting, plus he proves he's putting effort into his films with the films he directed himself and they are definitly some of the better Dolph Lundgren films in a long time.

Who would win between Seagal and Lundgren in a fight? Easy answer, it will be Dolph, because he isn't lazy and he'll put as much effort into beating Seagal's ass as he does in his films.

Lundgren Wins no doubt.

I would pick Lundgren's stunt double over Seagal's stunt double.

reply

Stunt doubles is about right, if there were no stunt doubles there would be a lot fewer action heroes.
No one has ever commented on how slow Seagal is. Most the guys he beats up in movies, would in real life be so fast that he would wear himself out trying to land the first punch on them. Seagal is just too slow to be a threat. On his best day in his prime he was still too slow to be a threat to almost any other fighter. I never could understand how anyone could suspend disbelief long enough to get through one of his fight scenes.

reply

In their prime... I dunno; I wouldn't want to say. But right now, Dolph for sure. Surely..?

Lundgren is a 3rd degree black belt in Kyokushin and was the European karate champion. You can see vids of him on YouTube knocking people out in tournaments. He also had a boxing match against Oleg Taktarov. He lost via decision but considering he was up against a professional fighter, he did OK.

Seagal is a 7th degree black belt in Aikido but there is no evidence of him actually competing.

Lundgren would also easily have the strength and conditioning advantage. Seagal would get smashed.

In his prime (during the Marked for Death, Above the Law era) Seagal would destroy Lundgren. I'm no fan of the Physical Turkey Guru but I do respect his past achievements in martial arts excellence.

If you look at how Seagal fought compared to Dolph 15-20 years ago, Seagal was the better fighter (or rather, the lack of his fighting). Using his opponents momentum and strength against them with Aikido was very effective. And if you see Seagal's older movies it really did look like he was hurting a lot of those poor stuntmen. I can already imagine Dolph throwing a punch and Seagal rag-dolling him around a bit.

As for now...well, Seagal, as we all know, is fat and lazy. He doesn't even act, he just slobbers some lines out and his fighting consists of quick-edits you can't even make out. I felt bad that Gary Daniels had to have such a pathetic fight with Seagal in that terrible sub movie.

My money would now be on Lundgren because as everyone stated, he keeps in excellent shape and he didn't look too bad in his fight against Jet Li in The Expendables, which is more than I can say for any of Steven's movies in the last 10 years.
