Tiberius Ceasar

I know this was a fantasy film but was the Emperor Tiberius Caesar supposed to be the historical one who ruled around the time of Jesus? Because in actual fact, that emperor did not get killed by a Cyclops. Indeed, he died apparently of natural causes, although it has been suggested that he was smothered in his bed by his nephew, who succeeded him as the infamous Emperor Caligula. Again, I know this was a fantasy, but I would have preferred them using a fictitious Emperor as opposed to an historical one.
