The ending was just laughably bad

The movie itself was a passable, if easily forgettable, C-level cop movie up until the end.

First you have Ethan Hawke getting shot in what was meant to be shocking but just came off so cliche. Then the kid who shot him just runs away.

Then Don Cheadle executes Red - in the middle of the street with nobody else around - then, BOOM, squib shot on Cheadle's chest. And the cop runs away.

And finally - Gere is sneaking around this apartment when Negro #2 shows up with Gummy Bears and argues with Gere before HE is shot, and killed by a zip-tie.

After all this goofiness and schlockiness, the movie tries to end on some half-assed, wanna-be deep final shot of Gere walking into the camera.

It was all so cheesy and ridiculous and - worst of all - bland.

If it was the Departed (2006) where everyone shoots everyone in the end, it would have been "art" because it's Scorsese I guess...

Exactly, this movie is still better than anyone of Scorcese, if it was only for Wesley Snipes.

I actually found the zip tie to be a very nice detail.

How does that Em Rhyme go...."I Sit in front of my computer all day and comment on everything I'm an expert on everything this movie sucks play the next one..."

I'm willing to bet that none of the negative comments made here were by anyone from Brooklyn or the ghetto.

And while that should not hold sway it does make a big difference in how it's viewed/felt.

Everything I saw in this movie imitates life where I'm from.
