Yuuki's personality is so bland.

I can't stand it. Someone tell me it gets more interesting later on.

I know exactly what you mean. Actually I really really dislike her and thought Zero was worth so much better. She did not do anything herself, and her saying "im sorry" every five seconds just made me want to slap her. She is a very bland character and I kept wishing for her to get some guts to do things herself but she kept being very passive.

Bland and incredibly useless. Not even Bella from Twilight was that insufferable. I mean yeah she was pretty bad sometimes, but in my opinion, nowhere near as bad as Yuuki. I liked her at first, but the more and more I watched Vampire Knight the more I couldn't stand her. She was whiney, constantly needed rescuing because she rushed into dangerous situations without stopping to think for a moment. And she was always up in everybody's face (mostly Zero's), like she always knew what was best and that everything was her business, and by God, if she didn't find out the information that was her God-given right to know (/sarcasm) she'd go all bug-eyed and start crying. And every episode she was being attacked by a vampire coz she stupidly wandered off on her own. "Sure, I've gone down all sorts of creepy alleys and houses 50 times now and have been attacked every single time by a Level E vampire without fail and I've had to be saved by Kaname/Zero every single time, but hey, you know what they say - the 51st time is the charm!"

She was an awful protagonist and I don't understand what made her so special to Kaname. Zero maybe, since she helped take care of him after his parents were murdered, and she was essentially his only friend, but a powerful, beautiful, immortal pureblood vampire who could have anything and anybody he wanted? Yes, she could be kind-hearted sometimes. I suppose Kaname admired her for that. But there are plenty of girls out there who are kind and warm and aren't completely stupid, needy and reckless like she was. Sigh. All in all, it was a good anime and I enjoyed watching it, but the only thing I wish is that they didn't make Yuuki so annoying and unlikable.

I have to disagree. Bella from Twilight never /tried/ to fight her own battles. She was completely co-dependent on edward and when he left her lifwe was over. She has a positive personality, unlike Bella who was constantly moping and depressing. Yuuki has her battles too though.

Everyone always critiques it that it is sooo similar to Twilight, when it should be saying Twilight is similar to it. Vampire Knight came out in manga before Twilight was published, if only by a few months.

Bella was completely useless. At least Yuuki /seemed/ to have some training in combat, or at least acrobatics. Of course she is rarely if ever successful at fighting anyone off, she does at least manage to have some redeemable qualities. Bella on the other hand I could not stand. She was constantly depressed despite having so many people in her life that loved and cared for her. Not to mention she attempted dangerous stunts if only to hallucinate about her x-boyfriend who left her, said he didn't love her and then never contacted her again until he heard she might have commit suicide and then went to go off himself.

Trust me, I am in no way saying Bella Swan is a great protagonist AT ALL. She was terrible. I was just comparing one awful protagonist with another.

"How about I take that shotgun off your hands?" "How about I slap you and kill you?"
